The MM1 Plumbing Test Prep Seminar is a two day live instructed course. In the course we will highlight the books that are allowed into the seminar. We will also go over the many calculations that are required on the test including:

  • water pipe sizing
  • drain, waste, and vent sizing
  • storm drain sizing

In the seminar we will also go over questions and answers that we have been seeing on the exams. We will additionally cover our proven Test Taking Strategies methods.

In order to obtain an MM1 license you are required to have four years experience within the last 10 years.  With the MM1 license you can bid or contract to install, alter, repair, service, and maintain plumbing, plumbing fixtures, and piping, includes incidental concrete supports, and excavating, trenching and backfilling; includes hot water heating systems not exceeding 30 p.s.i. or 400,000 b.t.u./hour input; piping for fuel, oil and gasoline; piping and appurtenances for solar thermal energy systems; potable water irrigation sprinkler systems; swimming pools and spas; includes pneumatic or electric controls and control wiring not greater than 24 volts; septic tanks, manholes and sewer lines; does not include installation of natural gas fired appliances or natural gas piping; piping and agricultural sprinkler irrigation system installation and maintenance on farm or ranch property that moves water for livestock use or irrigation purposes from a privately owned well or pipeline, not connected to a public potable water supply are exempt from licensing requirements. When connected to a potable water source all connections must be downstream of an approved back flow prevention device. If a backflow prevention device is required it shall be permitted and installed by a properly certified journeyman employed by an appropriately licensed contractor.


A mechanical contractor license only allows you to bid or contract work. An MM1 contractor must employ or obtain a JP or JPG to actually do the work.
